Explanation of the Book:

Live, the newest book from New York Times bestselling author and popular social media presence Sadie Robertson, addresses life's weightiest matters and choices in fun, practical, and biblical ways and leads readers to engage with God's truth and light in a world that is growing more and more confusing. There's a big difference between being alive and knowing how to truly live. To be alive is something that happens to you. But to truly live is something you get to choose each day. As Robertson says, "When you truly learn to live the life God offers, your whole existence becomes a verb." In Live, Sadie Robertson inspires us to thrive in the life God gave us by making choices that will lead us into the fullness He has for us, not into the emptiness the world offers. With photography and captivating design, Live shows us how we can find a rich and rewarding life when we choose to wholeheartedly embrace God's ways and God's truth. Moments of decision greet everyone, sometimes on a more-than-daily basis. Some of those decisions are minor and others are life altering, but all serve as stepping-stones to peace, joy, and fullness or to disappointment and emptiness. Sadie is passionate about inspiring a generation to live in that fullness every day. The book includes material on overcoming jealousy, finding confidence, dealing with haters, waiting on God, living in the moment, discovering the power of words, and knowing how to tell the difference between what leads to life and what leads to death--so young people can make the best choices. Whether you have a long-time relationship with God or are new to faith, Live is a joyful encouragement to make the most of each moment, to make wise decisions, and to always seek the truth of God's Word. Filled with stories and biblical principles, Live celebrates what everyone has in common--the opportunity to not simply be alive but to truly live.

Explanation of the Book:

Sadie Robertson, bestselling author and star of Dancing with the Stars, has an important message for her generation: you don’t have to be held back by fear, anxiety, or loneliness anymore. In Live Fearless, Sadie takes you on a thrilling personal journey toward power, passion, and purpose as you live at the center of who God created you to be! Dear friends, I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty tired of the struggle. You know which one I mean—fear, loneliness, not knowing who I am or what I’m meant to do. . . . Sound familiar? I struggled with insecurity, comparison, and isolation for too many years, from thigh gaps to eyebrows to the lifestyles I felt I had to live up to. I was so afraid of being “found out,” that everyone in my life would somehow figure out that I was fearful and small and that I struggled to make my faith a reality and to be secure in who I am. It took a major perspective shift from staring at comments on a screen to really digging into the pages of my Bible to see what God actually says about overcoming fear. Setting aside the fear, anxiety, and comparison to become the joy-filled person God created you to be is exactly what God is inviting you into. To really be seen and known. To be an agent of change by choosing compassion, connection, and acceptance for everyone you come in contact with. Inside this book are ways to find your power, passion, and purpose—and reach for your dreams. Plus, there are places to jot down notes, fun lists, practical ways to make changes, and thoughts on how living fearless can change everything. Are you tired of the awful comparison game? Are you exhausted from trying to keep up, from feeling small and afraid that people will find the real you and be disappointed? There is so much more for you. No matter who you are, where you come from, or what your fears are, freedom is available to you. It’s just a matter of saying yes. You in? Hope you’ll join me on this wild adventure as we learn to Live Fearless together. Love, Sadie

It becomes your turn to beg and plead for your life, asking for forgiveness speaking to deaf ears of no understanding. Pain, blame, loss and disgrace is replaced by the taste of sweetness knowing that you will be found face down in bad weather..." Pages: 306
ISBN: 0615665721

Release: 2012-08-01

Language: en

Explanation of the Book:

Cold Gather begins as notorious, self-destructive glassblower Neil Bishop is diagnosed with a malignant, inoperable tumor. Told he has less than six months to live, he turns to his old friend, Jack Scanlon, to organize a Pre-Wake Party in their hometown to say good-bye to his friends. At the party, Jack gets his first real look at Neil's live-in lover of four years, Marla Stone. Neil has often vividly described Marla's fiendish temper and consuming libido. Jack is instantly pole-axed by her poise, her smoky beauty and her sensuality, generating this inebriated exchange at the end of the day;"I turned to my dear friend, this man with whom I had howled at the moon and raised so much hell across the years and said, 'Of course you realize that, as soon as you're cold, I'm coming after Marla.'He squeezed my shoulder, smiled broadly and said, 'You should do that. She'd be good for you.'He had never been more wrong, but sometimes we hear only what we want. I could not ignore an imprimatur like this."Neil is dead within three months of the party. It had been rumored over many years, (although no one had seen them), that Neil had finally completed his masterwork; seven large works of molded glass he called "The Deadly Sins." In 1994, he had given the first piece, "Lust", to Jack for safekeeping. The existence and whereabouts of the other six pieces were unknown until Jack's first trip to visit Marla in California. As an intensely passionate relationship unfolds between Marla and Jack, she finally takes him to see five mind-blowing pieces; Envy, Gluttony, Anger, Pride and Sloth-- bequeathed to her by Neil.Beautifully written, Tom Buechler's muscular first novel revolves around the tempestuous, often explosive, relationship between Jack and Marla as they fall in and out of love during their search for the missing Seventh Sin--Greed.In Cold Gather, Buechler showcases his trademark earthy dialogue and his unique gift for creating offbeat characters. He has crafted a robust story that is smart, bold and darkly funny with a satisfyingly twisted finale.

The Light of Nonviolence

Author: Courtney D. Schlosser
Pages: 208
ISBN: 1490962204
Available:
Release: 2013-09-26
Editor: CreateSpace
Language: en

Explanation of the Book:

The Light of Nonviolence is the inspiration of a former leader of the International Jain community, Acharya Shushil Kumarji (Guruji). The book contains forty stories from the experience, moral insight and mystical vision of Guruji. The stories dramatize the real life experiences of Guruji's travels in India, his meetings with other famous leaders, and his explorations of higher consciousness through Kundalini yoga. Most of the stories deal with the ethics of nonviolence (ahimsa) through fables, parables, and Guruji's personal experiences. A unique understanding can be gained through these unusual narratives about the possibilities of nonviolent living; and the reader is invited to explore these possibilities. Guruji's stories resulted from transcriptions and dictations that the author, Courtney Schlosser, collected and edited. Schlosser met Guruji in 1975 and knew him as a teacher, friend, and leader in the Jain community. Although Guruji died in 1994, his charismatic and inspired teachings continue in the lives of the many who knew him. The stories convey the values of nonviolence in moral, psychological, and metaphysical ways. Among the themes of these stories are: astral beings, yogic experiments, extrasensory experiences, healing energy, secret knowledge, animal beings, death and beyond, higher consciousness and real world events. The author has tried to capture the voice and thought of Guruji's stories, many of which were dictated to him. A brief discussion of Jain philosophy is included in the Appendix. The author would like to thank the Jain community for supporting work on this publication. Om Shanti
